Preview of Peculiar Stuff new look!

Today I’ll show you a preview of the new look of Peculiar Stuff!
A new background and animated vegetation.
But we are not satisfied yet, we are already changing the new background!
In the meantime we are assembling the level of the Ice Castle of Elder Thrones, soon you will have a preview of this too.

Game Of Thrones Parody world development

We’ve been developing our Game of Thrones parody world for a while. At first we started from some mechanics concepts

We’ve then finalized our enemy concepts to work with (at first we only had the zombies and one harpy)

 

The third level in Elder Thrones, the Ice Castle, will be a metroidvania like level. This here is a background concept our artist made.

The Ice Castle will contain a mid-boss, the Undead King. We’ve already thought up some of his attack patterns!

The fourth level will be a shoot ‘m up. You’ll have to ride a dragon between flying enemies and obstacles to reach the Fire Castle across the sea.

The Boss battle will take place in the Iron Room, a room full of swords, in the Fire Castle.
We’re working on Larry’s Odyssey through Elder Thrones, a Game Of Thrones parody world.

50% GOAL REACHED, MID BOSS SNEAK PEEK AND WHY WE LOVE “ONCE UPON A COMA”!

We finally reached 50% of our final goal today! THANKS for your support everyone!!!

We’re now working on Elder Thrones third level, the Ice Castle.
This stage will have metroidvania like mechanics and a mid Boss, the Undead King (inspired by GoT’s Night King) who conquered King John’s castle.

This is a sneak peek on how the boss will look and its attacks.
We thought the attack pattern was really fun, and we’re having just as much fun while developing it! 😉

Artistic choice

Hi everyone, today we’d like to talk you about our pixel art.

At the beginning of the development we had to decide the details amount we wanted our pixel art to have. Our pixel artist, Francesca, made a few sketches and tries to see what kind of style we wanted to have.

 

In the end we opted for a less detailed pixel art, the one that the game has now, for 2 reasons:

1) We wanted it to have a “snes” like feel.
2) Being on a budget needed for a fast work to finish the project as soon as possible.

In the end we have to say, we are satisfied, and like our choice in style, but we always thrive to improve it further, adding particles, details and animations.
